The regional championship of ambulance crews took place in Ternopil. 18 teams took part in the competition. Police medics also demonstrated their skills.

- The championship was launched in 2009, so this year's fifth one is the jubilee one, - the head of the Department of Emergency and Military Medicine of TSMU, Professor Arsen Hudyma said, - The competition is held thanks to the cooperation of all law enforcement agencies of the region, the Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine and the Ternopil State Medical University named after I.Y. Gorbachevsky.

The competition was held in 5 stages. All tests were chosen to test the readiness of doctors to act in various emergency situations. Doctors of ambulance crews demonstrated first aid skills in case of drowning, strokes, stab wounds, and injuries from falling from a height.

One of the most responsible and difficult tasks was simulated work in the ATO zone. The participants of the competition, according to the organizers, had to provide emergency medical care to the soldiers who suffered from an explosion at the checkpoint.

- Employees of the regional police department and the Security Service of Ukraine helped to recreate in the smallest detail a checkpoint, similar to those that are currently being arranged in the ATO area, - Professor Arsen Hudyma said, - Thanks to this, the tests were as close as possible to real combat conditions.

The professional skills of medics were evaluated by the jury. In particular, the chairman of the All-Ukrainian Council of Resuscitation and Emergency Medical Care Vitaliy Kryliuk came to the championship.

- The competitions of the championship were complex, intense, and quite difficult, but all brigades showed themselves quite well - Vitalii Kryliuk summed up - the algorithm of rendering assistance in civilian conditions medics have already worked out quite well, but the work in the conditions of military operations still needs correction and training.

The brigade of Ternopil SE(S)MD №2 became the best in the competition, it will represent the Ternopil region at the all-Ukrainian competitions. The second place was taken by medics of the Ternopil SE (S) MD №1. The third place was taken by the team of Zalishchytsia EMS.

All participants in the championship received certificates, and the best ones also received prizes and gifts from sponsors.

- Such competitions are extremely useful because it is not for nothing that they say: "hard in training - easy in battle", - said Mykhailo Vasylyshyn, Assistant Head of the Department - Head of the Medical Support Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Office in Ternopil region, - So we are always happy to cooperate in this direction with the Center for Emergency Medical Care and Disaster Medicine and Ternopil Medical University. I hope that the championship will become traditional.
