On June 14, the whole world celebrates World Blood Donor Day. It was on this day in 1868 that Austrian doctor Karl Landsteiner discovered human blood groups. Therefore, the World Health Organization has chosen this date as a day of gratitude to millions of people who do not spare their own blood and save other lives.

Every fourth person needs donated blood and blood products during his or her life. Therefore, the donor, by donating blood, makes an invaluable contribution to a good cause - saving lives. This is the opinion of the Assistant Chief of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Office - the Chief of the Medical Support Sector of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Office in Ternopil region, police colonel Mykhailo Vasylyshyn. He is an honorary donor of Ukraine.

Such an unusual but noble title is given to those people who have donated blood or plasma more than 40 times for free or 60 times. Mykhailo Volodymyrovych has been a regular visitor to the blood transfusion station for ten years. He is the only law enforcement officer in the Ternopil region who has donated more than forty liters of invaluable nutrients to save the lives of other residents of the region. A doctor by profession, he knows well how necessary donation is for sick people.

He himself first came to the blood transfusion station on the advice of doctors. Due to poor health, experts advised Mykhailo to undergo tests and plasmapheresis. As a result of this procedure, pathogenic antibodies, and immune complexes are removed from the blood, the endocrine system is regulated. Bacteria and toxins are removed from the body. In other words, all the "dirt" in the blood is removed. And it was after such a useful cleansing that the doctor decided to help other people for whom blood is worth its weight in gold. This is certainly a very responsible choice regarding the person to whom the blood will be transfused.

- The desire to donate blood is not enough. The main requirement for a donor is excellent health. The list of "prohibited" diseases is quite extensive. Those who have had Botkin's disease or suffer from any chronic disease, or have problems with vision will not be allowed to donate blood. You need to be absolutely healthy - Mykhailo Vasylyshyn states.

Often people are afraid to donate blood because of the risk of infection. According to Mykhailo Vasylyshyn, today all the systems used in the preparation of donor blood are disposable, they can not be reused. Thus, the risk of getting any infectious disease in the process of donation is reduced to zero. In addition, this noble cause will only benefit the body, because donation helps prevent cardiovascular diseases, and regular blood donation rejuvenates the body and improves the immune system.

- I repeatedly involve my colleagues and friends in blood donation and show by my own example how to help save someone's life unselfishly - the police colonel said.

The 22-year-old daughter of police officer Margarita Vasylyshyn also follows her father's example. The girl has already donated more than thirteen liters of blood and wants, like her father, to receive the honorary title of the donor.

For the noble deed, the law enforcement officer received the badge "Honorary Donor of Ukraine". Mykhailo Volodymyrovych plans to continue to give a part of himself to save others.
