The life of a doctor is the acquisition of new knowledge and experience. This is the meaning of life and the vocation to help others

The desire to help people and improve throughout life, professionalism, and high moral qualities - are the virtues that every doctor should have. The head of the state institution "Territorial Medical Association of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in Ternopil region" Mykhailo Vasylyshyn.

Mykhailo grew up in an ordinary family, he was a lively child and went in for sports.

- It was during the games, in which my friends sometimes got injured, that I tried to provide first aid - I set someone's finger, and treated someone's broken knee or scratches. I liked it, and most importantly, I managed to do it even though I was still a schoolboy.

Mykhailo was the only child in the family, so the real tragedy was the diagnosis that was made to the boy at the age of fourteen - pulmonary pathology - asthma. His parents were worried, and his mother was shocked. But the teenager did not give up and decided to take care of himself - he started running, and playing wind instruments. He did everything to leave the terrible diagnosis behind.

- I always wanted to benefit people, and the medical profession seemed "heroic". I was always happy when my help was useful. Therefore, after graduating from Staroskalatska school with a gold medal, I decided to enter the Ternopil Medical Institute, Faculty of Medicine.

However, after the first year, Mykhailo was taken to the army for two years for conscript service, which he served in Mukachevo. The company knew that he was a medical student, so the guys awarded the soldier with symbolic nicknames - Pill and Tablet.

- He served in the army for two years, one and a half of which he was the company's medic. In addition to special training in weapons and physical education, I was assigned to the regiment's medical dressing station. Then I was faced with blood, with serious injuries, and I felt the urge to treat and help seriously. I realized that surgery teaches you to be punctual and self-organized. After returning to the university, when the time came for the final choice of profession, I decided on surgery.

Mykhailo Vasylyshyn passed his internship in one of the hospitals in Ternopil, and then he was assigned to the village of Pidvolochysk. For a year and a half, he worked as the head of the surgical department of the polyclinic of the district hospital. Then two years as an emergency surgeon at the medical institution. Here, the doctor says, he was formed as a specialist and gained vast life and professional experience.

- A person should not "sit" in one place all his life. It is necessary to use different opportunities and realize yourself. I have always had a craving for manual therapy. My uncle and mother had back problems, so I decided to undergo additional training in this area in Odesa and Kyiv.

Grateful patients began to talk about the young doctor and told their friends about him. After some time, Mykhailo Vasylyshyn was offered a place in the sanatorium "Medobory" in the rehabilitation department for law enforcement officers. However, the circumstances changed at the last moment and the man was given an hour to decide whether he would become the head of the health service. The answer was yes because Ternopil is more opportunities and chances to give a decent education to children. He served as the head for two months and then went to the capital for approval. After a successful interview, he received the position and shoulder straps of a police captain.

- Service in the army helped him successfully pass the physical training and weapons exams. And for 18 years I have been the head of the "Territorial Medical Association of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Ternopil region". I always regretted that I did not continue my surgical practice, but despite everything, I do not change my principles - if you put on a white coat, then work, and do your best.

Mykhailo Vasylyshyn is convinced that nowadays good equipment without experienced personnel is worthless. However, people should love their work, and respect patients.

- Since I came, a lot has changed. Last year we purchased a new modern ultrasound machine for the expert class. We also bought a digital fluorograph. Of course, we have a little bit of space, but we proceed from what we have. Gradually but surely we are rejuvenating the team. Life makes us change, the doctor says. It is difficult for older people to learn new techniques, and to make certain decisions.

- I believe that our institution has the right to exist because we are the only social protection for people in uniform. Now there is a clear regulatory framework.

Today, the medical institution has 86 employees who serve more than 16.5 thousand law enforcement officers of Ternopil and the region, as well as their families. Most of our doctors live on low wages and are simply forced to look for part-time jobs.

- It is a pity that many of our really good specialists flee Ukraine in search of a better life.

Mykhailo Vasylyshyn and his wife will celebrate a pearl wedding in August this year - thirty years of marriage. He and his wife raised two daughters. However, none of the girls chose the medical profession.
The elder Tetiana, having graduated from technical university and postgraduate studies, decided to work in a radically different direction - modeling and tailoring. And the younger Margarita is a teacher at the Department of Arts of TNPU named after V. Hnatiuk and an actor in the Ternopil Drama Theater. Children are adults and independent. Therefore, the family uses the slightest opportunity to be together to the maximum.

- My wife and daughters always pull me to the forest "for another meeting with nature". We love fishing and traveling around Ukraine. We like to have tea, and during conversations, I am distracted from everyday problems. We always visit our parents. My hobbies are small table tennis, which I play every week with my friends, as well as philately and buccinism. In 2014 I was awarded the title of Honorary Donor of Ukraine.

"Respect people when you go up because you will meet them when you go down" - this is the credo of Mykhailo Vasylyshyn, which he followed and which he still adheres to. Respect for people and gossip will never bring anyone good. So, the doctor is convinced, it should be both in the family circle and at work. Falsehood and lies are the worst qualities of a person, the doctor believes.
